Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform financial accounting and reporting functions for both the Mandan Refinery and Dickinson Renewable Fuels facility
• Prepare monthly financial entries to properly account for refinery expenses and other financial activity
• Participate in monthly financial closeout activities for assigned areas of responsibility, including month end account reconciliations and execution of SOX controls
• Analyze actual results and prepare reports as necessary for assigned areas of responsibility
• Participate in the development of refinery’s annual expense budget and monthly updates, and the analysis of actual versus budgeted expenditures
• Assist in the implementation of new procedures and accounting systems, or financial applications as they arise
• Assist in special projects assigned and provide back-up for other accounting functions as required
• Participate in the completion of the biennial Solomon Benchmarking Survey

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Two (2) years of Accounting/Finance experience required
• Previous MPC Refinery Accounting experience highly preferred
• Previous experience working a large ERP is preferred
• Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel is preferred
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) a plus
• Strong communication skills
