Fire Protection Engineer, Senior
Provide technical and programmatic fire protection, life safety, and occupational safety and health (OSH) support to Federal clients, including architects, developers, owners, and government agencies. Review and analyze proposed fire protection and life safety equipment and design changes to ensure compliance with codes and criteria. Serve as the subject‑matter expert representing the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in developing Statements of Work, performance‑based design analyses, and design and construction proposals.
Perform engineering reviews of shop drawings, oversee construction, conduct field surveys, and perform system acceptance testing for life‑safety systems. Provide project‑level oversight, coordinate work with construction trades, evaluate existing systems, and develop technical reports addressing deficiencies and remediation. Mentor junior engineers and facilitate continuous improvement. U.S. citizenship is required.
- 10+ years experience in fire protection and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience in healthcare settings and applying NFPA 99, The Joint Commission, UFC 3‑600‑01, UFC 3‑601‑02 or similar standards.
- Experience with federal agencies such as EPA, VHA, DoD, and FAA.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA life safety and fire protection codes (NFPA 101, NFPA 13, NFPA 25, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 75, NFPA 90A).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with OSH regulatory and consensus standards such as 29 CFR 1910, 1926, 1960, NFPA 70, 70E, 101.
- Experience in fire suppression and detection system design.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) certification.
Salary range: $86,800.00 to $ (annualized USD).
