Inventory ControllerThe Inventory Controller serves as the site-level inventory planning and material coordination lead for the Mandan Refinery and Dickinson Renewable Fuels Facility. This role translates maintenance, turnaround, project, and operational demand into actions that support safe, reliable, and competitive refinery operations. The Inventory Controller is expected to be a proactive leader who builds trust across Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams;
anticipates material risks before they affect execution; and drives disciplined inventory decisions aligned with equipment criticality, lead time exposure, supplier capability, and site priorities. The successful candidate will be located in Mandan, ND and report to the Supply Chain Director.
This position is responsible for ensuring the right materials are available at the right time while balancing inventory investment, operational reliability, supplier performance, and compliance expectations. The role requires hands-on inventory discipline, strong business judgment, and the ability to influence priorities across functions.
- Review and replenish inventory to support maintenance, turnaround, project, and operating needs. Convert planned orders to purchase requisitions, schedule material transfers, and coordinate repairable items for in-house or third-party repair.
- Perform robust, hands-on inventory reviews, including stockouts and at-risk materials, inventory optimization, ABC classifications, forecasted demand, supplier stocking programs such as VMI and consignment, unfulfilled or canceled work order reservations, surplus stock, and obsolete materials.
- Identify, participate in, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve inventory accuracy, material availability, replenishment strategy, and working capital performance.
- Support Company audits and Supply Chain compliance control reviews by maintaining disciplined processes, accurate records, and timely follow-up on required actions.
- Establish and maintain close professional relationships with key stakeholders across Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and project teams.
- Use knowledge of stakeholder priorities, inventory conditions, and Supply Chain capabilities to manage and prioritize exception handling.
- Ability to perform Commercial Sourcing Advisor duties for assigned categories, including sourcing strategy development and implementation, RFP/RFQ planning and execution, supplier negotiations, supplier relationship management, quantitative analysis, and purchase order creation and management.
- Support the Warehouse Managers by assisting with daily warehouse operations, material management strategy execution, compliance with legal and Company requirements, budget support, and backfill coverage during absences. This may include oversight of warehouse supervisors and/or warehouse technicians and activities such as goods receipts, goods issues, picks, put-aways, cycle counts, QA/QC, and heavy equipment use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Six (6) or more years of Supply Chain or business relevant experience.
