Overview

We are looking for an Inventory Controller to lead site‑level inventory planning and material coordination for the Mandan Refinery and Dickinson Renewable Fuels Facility. The role translates maintenance, turnaround, project, and operational demand into actions that support safe, reliable, and competitive refinery operations.

The Inventory Controller is a proactive leader who builds trust across Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams; anticipates material risks; and drives disciplined inventory decisions aligned with equipment criticality, lead time exposure, supplier capability, and site priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Review and replenish inventory to support maintenance, turnaround, project, and operating needs.
  • Convert planned orders to purchase requisitions, schedule material transfers, and coordinate repairable items for in‑house or third‑party repair.
  • Perform robust inventory reviews, including stockouts, at‑risk materials, ABC classifications, forecasted demand, supplier stocking programs such as VMI, consignment, unfulfilled or canceled work order reservations, surplus stock, and obsolete materials.
  • Identify, participate in, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, material availability, replenishment strategy, and working capital performance.
  • Support Company audits and Supply Chain compliance reviews by maintaining disciplined processes, accurate records, and timely follow‑up on required actions.
  • Establish and maintain close professional relationships with key stakeholders across Maintenance, Operations, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and project teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between Warehouse, Commercial Sourcing Advisors, and site stakeholders to support timely material decisions.
  • Manage and prioritize exception handling based on stakeholder priorities, inventory conditions, and Supply Chain capabilities.
  • Perform Commercial Sourcing Advisor duties for assigned categories, including sourcing strategy, RFP/RFQ planning, supplier negotiations, relationship management, quantitative analysis, and purchase order creation.
  • Support Warehouse Managers with daily operations, strategy execution, compliance, budget support, and backfill coverage during absences, including oversight of supervisors, technicians, goods receipts, goods issues, picks, put‑aways, cycle counts, QA/QC, and heavy equipment use.
Expectations

Demonstrate ownership by following issues through to resolution; communicate risks, constraints, and decisions clearly. Build credibility through responsiveness, preparation, sound judgment, and consistent execution. Lead through influence by aligning cross‑functional stakeholders around material priorities, execution risk, and business value. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and challenge existing practices to improve reliability, efficiency, or cost performance. Model accountability, professionalism, and a service‑oriented approach.

Develop practical solutions that balance urgency with disciplined process compliance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Six (6) or more years of Supply Chain or business‑relevant experience.
Location

Mandan, North Dakota.
