Job TitleTechnical Assistant - Thermal Processing
Reporting ToDirector of Thermal Processing
Job SummaryThe Thermal Processing Technical Assistant supports daily operations related to fermenting, smoking, cooking, and cooling of Cloverdale products. Responsibilities include maintaining smokehouse equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards, and optimizing production processes to meet targets.
Work EnvironmentOffice Environment: 4% of work involves computer research, project management, and meetings.
Production Environment: 95% involves exposure to machinery, noise, temperature variations, humidity, and wet conditions.
Travel: Less than 1%, for training and meetings.
ScheduleFlexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain smokehouse machinery.
- Support troubleshooting and repairs with maintenance team.
- Monitor and control oven parameters.
- Perform checks and calibrations.
- Document issues and malfunctions.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Conduct quality checks and maintain records.
- Assist in preventative maintenance and scheduling repairs.
- Collaborate on production schedules.
- Provide insights to improve smoking techniques.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Assist with production tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred:
Technical/vocational training in food manufacturing or mechanical systems. - Experience in meat processing or food manufacturing preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Experience with Alkar Smokehouse Ovens is a plus.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot machinery.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow technical specs.
- Good communication skills and teamwork.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP) and Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
- Exposure to machinery, noise, temperature, humidity, and wet conditions.
- Lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
- Stand, sit, walk, reach, bend for extended periods.
- Work around food allergens.
- Effective communication skills required.

Base pay ranges from $18.00 to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and location. Other benefits include insurance, 401(k), paid vacation, and more.
