Job SummaryThe Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes physical and psychological care, infection prevention, personal protective equipment use, assistance with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital sign monitoring, psychosocial support, transfer techniques, range‑of‑motion exercises, food preparation, and housekeeping.
Responsibilities- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and dressing/undressing.
- Collect and record vital signs and provide basic health care support.
- Support residents during transfers, repositioning, and walking using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Complete tasks related to food preparation, dining, and meal assistance.
- Document resident interactions, behavior, activity, and dietary outcomes.
- Communicate changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain resident living areas.
- Participate in wellness and recreational programs and encourage resident participation.
- Assist nursing staff with procedures and participate in departmental committees as needed.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required).
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care is preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification obtained within four months of start date or enrollment in a qualifying training program.
- Annual competency testing and continuation of education credits (minimum 12 hours per year).
- Maintain all required department‑specific certifications.
- For applicable states, registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
- May require a valid driver’s license and a vehicle report if the position includes driver responsibilities.
