Universal Banker

Position Summary

The Universal Banker has all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform as a Teller and/or fulfill responsibilities related to account opening and maintenance. The primary focus of this role at any given time will be dependent upon the current needs of the branch. The Universal Banker meets the needs of customers by providing excellent customer service.

• Open and maintain all types of Consumer and Business accounts in accordance with bank policy, including but not limited to BSA, providing accurate quotes on rates, fees and other disclosures, OFAC
• Ensure all documents are properly scanned upon opening or maintenance changes and transactions
• Answer customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
• Close accounts when requested, ask probing questions to determine if there was a service error and try to retain the relationship if possible
• Refer customers to proper department for issues that cannot be resolved.
• Act as Vault when assigned; process cash/coin trades to/from the vault
• May work either the desk or the teller line as needed
• Back up Branch Manager as needed
• Consistently support the Bank and its core values

• Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor
• Complete all teller transactions with accuracy and according to bank policy and procedure, including cash verification, ensuring proper endorsement rules are followed, obtaining proper identification and issuing receipts.
• Examine checks deposited and complete hold notices, availability based on regulation requirements for funds availability.
• Identify counterfeit currency.
• Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
• Refer customers to proper department for issues/referrals that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
• Count and roll loose coins.
• Ensure teller cash drawer remains within limits.
• Complete currency transaction reports, monetary instrument logs, and report suspicious activity as required.
• Performs customer maintenance transactions.
• Follow all policies and procedure.
• Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ year experience as Teller, CSR, UB or other retail banking position
• Clerical, administrative, or sales experience preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to navigate and learn new computer systems
• Exceptional organizational, time management, problem solving, and decision‑making skills
