The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, providing professional and compassionate patient interaction while delivering high-quality specimen collection services. This role involves drawing blood specimens safely and accurately, preparing samples for laboratory testing, maintaining patient confidentiality, and promoting a positive and professional environment. The position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing
- Explain procedures to patients and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection following established procedures
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signature post-venipuncture
- Label specimens accurately in the presence of the patient
- Maintain required records and documentation
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under supervisor direction
- Travel to multiple Patient Service Center and In-Office Phlebotomy locations as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Keyboard and data entry experience
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA)
- Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment
- Retail or service-based customer service experience
- Venipuncture and specimen collection
- Patient identification and documentation accuracy
- Superior customer service and communication
- Ability to handle high-volume environments
- Strong organizational skills
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures
- Process excellence and confidentiality awareness
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures
