Job title: Maintenance Specialist (HVAC)
Status: Full Time, Non-exempt
Job Summary – Maintenance Specialist (HVAC)
The Maintenance Specialist – HVAC is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC systems while supporting overall facility maintenance operations. This role ensures HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations. The position responds to routine and emergency service requests, coordinates with vendors and contractors, and maintains accurate maintenance documentation. In addition to HVAC duties, the role assists with general building maintenance, follows OSHA and facility safety requirements, and works collaboratively to minimize disruptions to facility operations and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and controls
Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical/electrical issues
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
Respond to urgent and on-call maintenance needs
Assist with general building maintenance (minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry)
Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with supervisors and vendors
Participate in safety inspections, audits, and emergency preparedness activities
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; technical/trade education a plus
2+ years of commercial or institutional HVAC experience required
General maintenance experience preferred
OSHA certification and trade licenses helpful
Valid driver’s license if required
Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
Additional Requirements
Adherence to OSHA, safety, and HIPAA confidentiality standards
Ability to work independently or as part of a team with flexibility and professionalism
