Reading Specialist

Description

American Martyrs School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Reading Specialist to join our learning support team. The Reading Specialist will work one-on-one and in small group settings with students who are reading below grade level, providing targeted intervention and support to help each child reach their full potential. This role works in close collaboration with classroom teachers and families to assess student needs, develop intervention plans, and track progress.

• Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree or reading specialist credential preferred
• Knowledge of current special education topics, methodologies, and best practices
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Patient, resourceful, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting struggling learners

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of American Martyrs School; demonstrate knowledge of and respect for the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Assess students’ reading abilities, identify deficiencies, and design individualized reading intervention plans and strategies
• Deliver targeted reading instruction in one-on-one and small group settings using evidence-based methods
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum as needed and support students within the general education setting
• Monitor and document student progress; communicate regularly with parents and teachers regarding student performance, growth, and areas of concern
• Stay current on developments in reading instruction and special education to continuously improve practice

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
