Our customer, Strategic Space Systems, is looking to join their Software Engineering organization in Manhattan Beach, CA as an Embedded Software Engineer. The software will operate in resource-constrained environments with real-time requirements for flight/space/ground systems and will involve data analysis, data routing, and control systems algorithms. The engineer will work with various processors, memory, and I/O architectures, and implement both procedural and object-oriented software in C++.
The role includes working with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or Linux and related development tools.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and systems with logical and mathematical solutions.
- Collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software.
- Analyze system capabilities to resolve program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop utility programs; ensure software standards are met.
- Contribute across the full software life cycle for automated test sets/test systems on aerospace programs, in process-oriented environments (waterfall, spiral, or agile).
- Communicate effectively within large, cross-disciplinary engineering teams in a lab environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 5+ years of software development experience.
- Experience with object-oriented software design and C++ programming.
- Experience executing in an RTOS environment (e.g., FreeRTOS, RT-Linux, GH Integrity).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment with rapid development.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Experience across life cycle phases including software architecture development, requirements definition and analysis, OO development, code and unit test, system integration and test.
- Experience with lab instruments such as noise and signal generators; logic, spectrum, and network analyzers; and power sources and switches.
- Experience with hardware validation and verification of RF, digital, or mixed-signal devices.
