Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale is seeking a Director to conduct weekly rehearsals, direct performances and help us share our love of choral music with the Manhattan community.
Responsibilities- Cultivate a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for Chorale members during weekly rehearsals (Tuesday evenings) and performances
- Support Chorale members in improving their musical and vocal skills
- Select music for performances, in consultation with the Board
- Communicate with Chorale members about rehearsals and performances
- Plan and coordinate performances (two per year), including dates, venue selection, guest musicians and other logistics
- Collaborate and communicate with rehearsal and performance accompanists
- Attend Board meetings (usually 3-4 each year)
- Track record of success in conducting choral groups
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field is strongly preferred
- Positive references from choral groups conducted in the past
- Commensurate with experience, paid as an independent contractor
