Position
Purpose:
The attendant contributes to the overall mission of Sunset Zoo by offering friendly and professional services to Zoo guests under the Guest Services Manager and Guest Services Coordinator at the concession stand. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and handling day-to-day transactions in the guest services operation.
- Provides excellent customer service and possesses a service philosophy which reflects the mission for the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional working relationships with others, individually and in a team environment.
- Provides knowledge of the AZA accredited zoos as conservation organizations and ensures all work supports this mission daily.
- Provides excellent and professional communication skills both orally and written, both in person, on a multi-line telephone, and via email daily.
- Utilizes computer software skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook and Civic Rec daily.
- Performs proper cash handling using a cash register and credit card machine in a timely manner, daily.
- Operates food service equipment with food and beverage knowledge, as needed.
- Prepares and maintains product related to concessions, gift shop inventory, accept payments, reconciliations of cash, and preparing reports, daily.
- Maintains Guest Services Building and/or Expedition Café concession stand without direct supervision daily.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Computer software skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook /email.
- Knowledge of proper money handling skills.
- Flexible, self-starter, resourceful and detail oriented.
- Team oriented and able to work independently with little supervision.
- Work well under pressure and possess the ability to efficiently and effectively problem solve unforeseen complexities.
- Food and beverage service or related experience.
- This is not a KPERS covered position.
- Available to work a minimum of 20 hours a week, up to 35 a week.
- Work performed at Guest Services Building, Expedition Café Concession Stand and Administrative Office.
- Stand, walk, sit, use hands, communicate through speaker and hand-held radio, hear, climb ladders, push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds.
