Dental Hygiene Assistant

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygiene Assistant to support our dental hygienists in delivering high-quality preventive care to patients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a team-focused mindset, and a genuine passion for patient education and oral health.

• Assist hygienists with procedures such as cleanings, fluoride treatments, and periodontal assessments
• Perform coronal polishing, apply fluoride, place sealants, and take/process x-rays
• Record medical/dental histories, vital signs, and assist with charting and documentation
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and at-home care
• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and supplies
• Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed
• Maintain accurate dental records and uphold HIPAA compliance
• Support overall patient care and clinic operations as part of the dental team
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current vaccination record meeting ACIP Healthcare Worker recommendations

• One year of dental assisting experience
• Completion of an accredited dental assistant program or relevant work experience
• Certification in dental radiography (X-ray certification)
• One year of experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
• Bilingual in Spanish
• CPR certification for healthcare providers
