About This Role

The Kansas State University Department of Modern Languages seeks a dynamic individual for a part-time, non-tenure-track position as Instructor of Italian. The successful candidate will teach one (1) two-credit course titled ITAL 105:
Italian for Travelers in Fall 2026. The course supports students who plan to participate in Kansas State University's study abroad programs in Orvieto, Italy, as well as other participants who plan to travel in Italy. We seek candidates with experience or promise in teaching Italian at a beginning level and experience living or traveling in Italy. There is a possibility of renewal and potential opportunities for Summer teaching.

ITAL 105 meets once per week in the evenings. In-person teaching on the Manhattan campus is required.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

* Native, near-native, or advanced proficiency in Italian

* Experience living or traveling in Italy

* Ability to teach a 2-credit course titled Italian for Travelers, geared primarily to students who plan to study abroad in Italy

* At least 18-credit hours at the Master's level in a relevant field (Italian, language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, etc.)

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's or more advanced degree in a relevant field (Italian, language pedagogy, second language acquisition, linguistics, etc.)

* Experience teaching Italian language and culture in a post-secondary setting

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
