Job Title: Substitute School Nurse

Job Brief: Promotes the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student in the district by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools. Various school locations throughout Manhattan and Ogden.

• RN license required.
• All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

$18.00 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

• Early Learning: 8:40 AM – 3:40 PM.
• Elementary hours: 8:45 AM – 3:45 PM.
• Secondary hours: 7:40 AM – 2:50 PM.
• Times may vary depending on the building assignment.
• Flexible hours depending on availability.
• Average workday = 7.5 hours.

• Positions available during the regular school year.

• Director of Communications and Safety/Building Principal.
• Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.

• Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
• Assumes responsibility for the first aid care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or illness.
• Provides health education on an individual basis.
• Visits home of students when necessary or when referred by principals.
• Advises on modification of the educational program to meet health needs of individual students.
• Advises teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health problems.
• Interprets laws relating to school health.
• Assists school personnel in establishing healthy conditions in schools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
