GRADUATE ASSISTANT POSITION CAREER CENTER DIVISION OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND STUDENT AFFAIRS About the Career Center

The Career Center facilitates the career readiness of all students throughout the K-State community. Through personalized advising, resume and interview support, and experiential learning guidance, the Career Center helps Wildcats connect their academic experiences to meaningful careers. It also serves as a bridge between students and employers by hosting career fairs, networking events, and on-campus recruiting, ensuring students have access to real-world opportunities.

Job Summary

The Career Center Graduate Assistant will help empower students to explore career possibilities, build professional skills, and confidently pursue their next steps after college. You will coach students to tell their story through resumes and interviews, as well as connect them with employers and job opportunities. This is a half-time (20 hours/week) GA appointment for 9 months (summer employment is negotiable), with some evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications
  • Enrollment as a current graduate student at Kansas State University.
  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a flexible environment.
  • Enthusiasm for helping students achieve their goals.
Renumeration and Benefits
  • $15.19 per hour for up to 20 hours per week, distributed biweekly.
  • Eligibility for in-state tuition rates (but not a tuition waiver).
  • Health insurance.
Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to students in defining career options, resume and cover letter building, job and internship searching, and interview preparation through drop-in advising and scheduled appointments.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging workshops and presentations on career-related topics, such as developing resumes/cover letters, searching for jobs and internships, interviewing, and networking.
  • Assist full-time staff with special projects including, but not limited to, career fairs, networking events, employer engagement, mock interviews, and new program development.
  • Participate in training sessions, advising meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
