Position Summary

The Training Initiatives Manager (K0235903) leads the Medicaid Training Initiatives Team within the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The manager oversees the development and delivery of Medicaid training programs, manages curricula and learning management system content, designs training policies and procedures, builds training reports, and coordinates external training contracts. The role also serves as the primary instructor for Medicaid courses and trains staff to use virtual training platforms.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Medicaid program content expert for training and education.
  • Lead interdisciplinary project teams to implement Medicaid training initiatives and special projects.
  • Supervise and train team members in conducting training research and developing training program policy.
  • Provide consultation to KDHE executive staff on strategic training decisions related to the Medicaid program and program improvements.
  • Identify collaboration opportunities between KDHE divisions and other state agencies.
  • Work with communications to develop and maintain training information on the Medicaid program’s website.
Qualifications
  • Education: Required education level as specified by KDHE (not provided in the posting).
  • Licensing & Certification: Valid driver’s license for operating a state, private or rental vehicle.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience in planning, organizing, and directing the work of a department, program, or agency. Equivalent education may substitute for experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
    • Strong proofreading, editing, and attention to detail.
    • Experience coordinating and implementing departmental or program work.
    • Ability to track, organize, and synthesize program information, and lead research efforts.
    • Effective communication of data and research findings to diverse audiences.
    • Strong written and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
    • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, and Teams.
Compensation
  • Hourly Pay Range: $28.85 – $31.53 (may vary based on education, experience, or qualifications).
