About This Role

The School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is looking to hire two 9-month faculty members at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) to join their Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program. We welcome candidates with expertise in any area of speech-language pathology, although candidates with a background in dysphagia, adult neurogenic communication disorders, and/or neuroanatomy are especially encouraged to apply, as these areas align with current curriculum priorities.

Successful candidates will join a program with an active interprofessional education initiative, an on-campus speech and hearing clinic, strong connections to the local healthcare and education communities, and a school-level commitment to translational and community-engaged scholarship.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain an active, externally funded program of research, with dissemination through peer-reviewed outlets
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses aligned with area/s of expertise and program need
  • Advise graduate students
  • Provide service to the program, school, college, and university
  • Engage in interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship opportunities within the school

The selected candidates will be expected to maintain a 2:2 teaching load across the academic year, equivalent to 0.4 FTE, with allocation of remaining tenths related to research and service being negotiable.

These 9-month positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor have a preferred starting date of August 2027
, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Spring or summer 2027 start dates may be possible upon request.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program has been a nationally recognized presence at Kansas State University for more than 50 years and is consistently ranked in the top 25% of CSD programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report. The program offers a rigorous, accredited Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders alongside a pre-professional undergraduate major, serving students across the Midwest and beyond.

The K-State Speech and Hearing Center, located on campus, provides a rich applied research and clinical training environment with access to a varied community caseload across communication and swallowing disorders. The Center serves as a hub for faculty-student collaborative scholarship and direct interprofessional education opportunities.

The CSD program is housed within the School of Health Sciences, which includes programs such as Athletic Training, Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, Kinesiology, Physician Assistant, and Public Health.
