About This RoleThe Fiscal Officer assists the Associate Vice Provost for Finance & Business Operations in leading the development, coordination, and oversight of budgets, financial forecasts, and reporting functions to ensure efficient and transparent financial operations across all Provost departments, including School of Leadership Studies;
Academic Affairs & Innovation;
Enrollment Management;
International Programs; the Graduate School; and Data, Assessment, and Institutional Research.
The Office of the Provost provides administrative leadership for the university’s academic enterprise, driving a culture of academic innovation and excellence in support of our Next-Gen K-State vision and goals.

What You’ll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.
Education beyond the
Minimum Degree Requirement May Count Toward Required Experience If deemed relevant by the hiring manager. The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the analytical, financial and Organizational Skills Essential For Managing Complex Business operations, developing budgets and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.
Preferred Qualifications- Management experience in a finance or accounting function or office.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting and budgeting procedures and principles.
- Ability to determine changes in regulations that affect institutional policies and procedures.
- Ability to use own initiative to locate and resolve problems.
- Ability to coordinate with other areas of the university to perform duties.
- Ability to analyze accounting and budget systems to ensure accuracy and recommend and initiate modifications if necessary.
- Ability to operate routine accounting machines such as a calculator, computer, copier, and printer.
- Ability to interact tactfully and to deal courteously and effectively with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
