Phlebotomist

Location: Manhattan, KS |
Schedule: Full-time, on-site, M-F 7:30 am - 4:30 pm |
Compensation: $17.40 per hour

A healthcare services provider is seeking a Phlebotomist to join its laboratory team on a contract basis, with potential for permanent placement. This role is critical to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing that supports patient care and diagnostic testing.

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and complete decontamination procedures
• Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously to patients
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures using appropriate containers/tubes
• Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Minimum of 1 year of experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

• Pay rate of $17.40 per hour

This is a contract position with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent hire, offering benefits and a straightforward Monday-Friday daytime schedule.
