About This Role
The assistant director is responsible for the design, development, delivery and continuous improvement of core learning and organizational development programs. This role owns the full program lifecycle—from curriculum architecture and content development to facilitation quality and partnership engagement. The assistant director serves as the primary facilitator and instructional designer for flagship and foundational programs across the organization.
Working closely with the director, this role ensures that learning experiences are scalable, high-quality and aligned to organizational needs.

The division includes approximately 50 professionals delivering strategic and operational HR services to the campus community. Key functional areas include ASC-HR, Benefits, Compensation and Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Relations and Engagement, ERP Systems, Resource Center Operations, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Organizational Development, and Time and Leave. Together, these teams partner with campus units to provide responsive HR support, enhance organizational effectiveness, and help attract, develop, and retain a talented workforce.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You ll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications:
- Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and eight years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree
- Degree in Organizational Development, Education, HR, Business or related field.
- Certifications in leadership development, coaching, instructional design or assessment tools (e.g., ATD, SHRM, Prosci, MBTI, DiSC).
- 5+ years of experience in learning design, talent development or organizational development roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in facilitation and adult learning methodologies.
- Experience developing curriculum, instructional materials and instructor-led or blended learning programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; highly effective facilitator and storyteller.
- Experience with talent development technologies, LMS platforms or learning analytics.
- Experience developing programming for employees of all levels.
