Role Summary
The Human Resources professional supports Koehn Construction Services by managing all aspects of people operations — ensuring compliance, developing employees, and maintaining a culture that lives out our Core Values. This role is responsible for training and development, employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, labor compliance, and benefits administration. The position ensures that HR practices align with company goals, support our teams, and uphold KCS’s standards of dependability, integrity, and performance.
CoreResponsibilities HR Process
- Maintains consistent HR processes, procedures, and employee records
- Ensures timely completion of HR documentation and reporting requirements
- Supports HR systems, communication, and process improvements across the company
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting, screening, and selection.
- Manage a consistent onboarding process ensuring readiness and cultural alignment.
- Maintain partnerships with schools, trade programs, and community organizations.
- Create and maintain training programs for craft and leadership roles.
- Coordinate onboarding and continuing education to align with company processes.
- Track training hours and measure effectiveness toward company goals.
- Foster a respectful, transparent, and dependable workplace culture.
- Guide supervisors in addressing performance, attendance, and conduct issues.
- Support communication and feedback systems between leadership and field teams.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal employment laws and reporting requirements.
- Keep employee handbooks, policies, and records up to date.
- Monitors compliance documentation and supports internal audit readiness
- Administer company benefits programs including health, retirement, and leave.
- Support open enrollment and benefit communications.
- Coordinate with Finance for payroll and benefit reconciliations.
- Employee retention rate
- Average days to fill open positions
- Training completion percentage
- Compliance audits completed with zero violations
- Benefits participation accuracy and timeliness
- Company event attendance
- Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; or a combination of education and progressive experience providing at least 5–7 years of competency in recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance management. Construction or multi-location workforce experience preferred. - Strong knowledge of employment law, labor compliance, onboarding processes, benefits administration, and performance management practices.
- Proven ability to implement and maintain HR processes, manage confidential matters with discretion, and support leadership in workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.
- Professional, organized, and solutions-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
