About This Role
The Division of Financial Services seeks a highly motivated, collaborative leader for the role of Business Manager within the Administrative Support Center - Financial Operations team. The open position serves nine units reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Director for Extension and manages a team of one Grants Specialist and four Accounting Coordinators.
The Business Manager is instrumental in central financial management including leading day‑to‑day accounting activities, monitoring spend activity versus budget, management and tracking of grant activity, supervision of team members, facilitation of procurement of goods and services, and financial reporting.
Additionally, the Business Manager facilitates and participates in special projects, fosters ongoing communication with departments, and leads continuous customer service and business process improvement.
A successful candidate for this position will thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy developing relationships across multiple units, have great attention to detail, and be a leader in customer service standards and communication.

This position is Hybrid eligible
. This position is hybrid eligible; however, the first 90 days are required to be 100% on-site. After that period, hybrid eligibility may be granted based on individual performance, with a requirement of three days on-site.
All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.
What You'll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience. Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager. This degree requirement ensures candidates possess the financial, administrative and analytical skills essential for managing complex departmental operations, including budgeting, policy development and purchasing oversight. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated through the comprehensive curriculum and experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Related Field
- Experience in higher education business operations, with additional preference to those familiar with KSU policies, procedures and systems.
- Supervisory Experience
- Excellent Written Communication and Customer Service Skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel and Word
