Position Summary

The Finishing Operator is responsible for final inspection of finished hose. The Operator will measure and cut hose to length per packaging spec, wind hose onto spool or coil it, and place in a box.

Essential Functions
  • Operate all Inspect and Pack lines and applicable software according to procedure.
  • Monitor production equipment while in operation to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure production equipment is safe, and that it is run safely by all personnel.
  • Use PI tapes and plug gauges correctly to ensure product quality.
  • Identify and eliminate known defects and document all good and non‑conforming products.
  • Work overtime as required, including extended shifts and weekends, to meet business needs.
  • Additional Department‑Specific Functions
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and eliminate unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices and report all safety and or environmental incidents immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating equipment efficiently.
  • Maintain production schedules.
  • Participate in peer‑based teams and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
  • Other duties may be assigned later.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements
    • Education:

      High School diploma or GED.
    • Experience:

      Production work preferred but not required.
    Preferred Skills/Qualifications
    • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
    • Sound decision‑making skills.
    • Good math, reading, and writing skills.
    • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills.
    • Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment.
    Skills/Competencies
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes and take appropriate action.
  • Vision:
    Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
  • Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Lift/Carry up to 30 lbs.
    • Bending, twisting, turning, reaching below knee, pushing/pulling, squatting, kneeling, standing/walking, sitting, and lifting above shoulders required for 34–100% of work time.
    • No significant limitations reported.
    Assessment

    Employee must pass pre‑employment screening.

    Organizational Relationships/Scope
    • Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
    • Work closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
    Working Conditions
    • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
    • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
    • Safety equipment required (steel‑toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
    • Will stand for extended periods; walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting performed regularly.
    • Requires high degree of manual dexterity.
    • Ability to work overtime, including short‑notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
