Position Summary
Position is responsible for removal of mandrel and staging of hose for the Finishing Operator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Based upon work instruction, prepare the product for processing, and apply the designated pressure for blow‑out.
- Troubleshoot removal issues to maximize quantity of production.
- Remove excess water from processed hose.
- Complete associated paperwork and indicate length of hose for next stage processing.
- Transfer mandrel for next stage processing.
- Ability to work overtime as required, including extended shifts and weekends, to meet business needs.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Participate in peer‑based teams and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
- Other duties may be assigned at a later time.
- Education required:
High School diploma or GED. - Experience:
Production work preferred but not required.
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
- Sound decision‑making skills.
- Good math, reading, writing skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
- Vision: near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
- Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.
- Lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
- Bending, twisting/turning, reaching below knee, push/pull, squat/kneel, stand/walk, sit.
- Continuous and frequent operations possible.
Employee must pass pre‑employment screening.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS / SCOPE- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader.
- Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment.
- High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
- Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
- Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel‑toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
- Standing required for extended periods; walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, lifting performed on a regular basis.
- Requires high degree of manual dexterity under restrictive conditions.
- Ability to work overtime, including short‑notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
