Position Summary
Basic scope assignments include set-up and operation of extrusion and other associated equipment. Has responsibility for quality of production.
Essential Functions- Make complete line set‑ups on jobs from changes and specifications; set laser to specification of product to be run.
- Operate line maintaining proper speeds, adjustments, traverses, and let‑off brakes, etc. to ensure a quality product and production rates.
- Perform frequent inspections of product, both visually and through the use of PI tape and calipers. Record product and process parameters.
- Preform repairs to equipment and assist others in maintenance when major repairs to any equipment on assigned line are required.
- Complete all necessary records, reports, etc. as required. Prepare and attach material I.D. tag to pans or reels as required, giving particular attention to proper part number, job number, and quantity per pan or reel.
- Mix materials, load hoppers, and process scrap as required by operational needs.
- Keep extrusion line and surrounding area clean and orderly.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Value Stream Team Lead.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
- Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
- Maintain production schedules.
- Participate in peer‑based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
- Other duties may be assigned at a later time.
Minimum Requirements
Education required:
High School diploma or GED
Experience:
Production work preferred but not required
Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
- Lift/Carry up to 10 lbs – occasionally
- 11‑30 lbs – frequently
- Bending – continuous
- Twist/Turn – continuous
- Reach Below Knee – continuous
- Push/Pull – continuous
- Squat/Kneel – continuous

Employee must pass pre‑employment screening.
Organizational Relationships / Scope- Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
- Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment
- High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
- Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
- Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
- Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis.
- Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
- Ability to work overtime, including short‑notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs.
- The employee may be required to follow other job‑related instructions and to perform other job‑related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
