Kansas Corn consists of the Kansas Corn Growers Association (KCGA) and the Kansas Corn Commission (KCC). KCGA advocates for its members in regulatory and legislative efforts, ensuring their voices are heard in policies affecting the corn industry. KCC manages the Kansas corn checkoff, directing funds toward market development, research, promotion, and education. Together, KCGA and KCC work to strengthen and grow the future of corn farming in Kansas.
PositionSummary
Kansas Corn is seeking a Communications Manager to serve as one of several communication leads to support internal and external communications efforts. This position will work closely with the Vice President of Communications and Education and other members of the Kansas Corn communication team and staff to assist with digital communications, publications, events, and special projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated communicator looking to build skills in agricultural communications
Key Responsibilities- Provide communication support and communications strategic planning for grower services, education programs, events, and promotions
- Support graphic design and layout projects for print and digital materials (newsletters, brochures, reports, event materials)
- Assist with execution of news releases, newsletters, email communications, fact sheets, and talking points
- Support social media content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement
- Website management and content development
- Assist with video and photo assets and basic video and photo editing
- Help coordinate media requests, interviews, and even coverage
- Support special communications projects as assigned, including surveys, reports, and outreach campaigns
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, agricultural communications, or a related field (or expected graduation)
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital commnication tools
- Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Indesign, Illustratr, Canva, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively
- Proactiv e mindset and sel-start er attitude
- Interest in agricultre or public policy
- Basic photography or vido editing exprience
