Advanced Practice Nurse (MIDWIFE), Irwin ACH Ft Riley, KS
This position is located at the Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Responsibilities- Serve as Nurse Midwife for an Army Medical Hospital, managing and caring for mothers and babies throughout the maternity cycle.
- Collaborate with Obstetricians and Gynecologists when caring for women with obstetric, gynecologic, and general medical complications in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
- Perform accurate history and physical examinations on obstetric, gynecologic, and neonatal patients.
- Perform or request laboratory, radiologic, and other diagnostic and screening tests, interpret results, and assess specific problems or complications.
- Provide inpatient obstetrical care, including labor management and vaginal delivery.
- Start intravenous infusions; select and administer appropriate analgesia and anesthesia according to protocols.
- Provide well‑woman care, including family planning counseling and prescription of contraceptives.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse (Midwife):
- Degree: A graduate or higher‑level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Midwifery, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. (Attach a copy of your transcripts.)
- Foreign Degree: A degree from a foreign nursing school with official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
- Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory, and a passed National Council Licensure Examination.
- APRN Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration in the specialty of Midwifery or related specialty from a State, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Exemption: Current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and continuously employed in that series since September 27, 2017. Provide documentation to the Human Resources Office.

Qualification:
One or more full years of professional nursing experience performing physical exams, managing labor and childbirth, and prescribing medications (typical of GS‑11). For this job, experience alone is required; education cannot substitute for experience.
