Overview
Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide professional nursing care, under supervision, for clinic patients. Responsible for overseeing daily operations of one cardiology office (POD) including the delegation of defined tasks to Nursing Assistants to achieve quality patient care. In addition, this position may function as the Treatment Room LPN. The delivery of professional nursing care is guided by nursing theories and principles aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
Responsibilities- Assist with checking in, examinations and procedures.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Clarify medication orders and refills to pharmacies as directed by providers.
- Triage patient telephone calls, evaluating the physical and psychosocial health status of the patient.
- Coordinate patient services including lab tests, point of care testing, x-rays, diagnostic procedures, consults, home care, and acute care admissions.
- Handle critical values including lab, event or holter monitor, stress testing, and ultrasounds.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, lab tests, x-rays, and procedures.
- Notify patients of test results and provider disposition.
- Document medical information using appropriate electronic applications and/or forms.
- Serve as a resource for Nursing Assistants, including questionable medication refills, schedule II medications, educational mentoring, and daily activities.
- Assess patient rooms and surrounding areas for safety issues; remove hazards and make adjustments as needed.
- Communicate patient safety and patient care issues through appropriate channels.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, examination, and treatment rooms; ensure exam rooms have necessary supplies and materials.
- Participate in Patient Safety Rounds; adhere to infection control, emergency, safety, fire, and disaster plans and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in a clinic setting (required or preferred as indicated in posting).
- Preferred: experience providing patient care.
- Preferred: experience with cardiovascular patients, telemetry, or ER.
- Demonstrates consistent use of Standard Precautions; follows OSHA guidelines.
- Knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and compliance with statutes and regulations.
- Respect for patient rights including confidentiality of patient information.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to present information effectively.

Certifications:
Licensed Practical Nurse – KSBN; multi-state license acceptable for practice in Kansas. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
