Sales Associate (Cherokee, AL)

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Sales Associate to serve as the primary point of contact for customers in our Cherokee store. The role focuses on promoting an excellent customer experience, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring accurate cash handling.

Assisting customers in locating and purchasing merchandise, operating the cash register, stocking merchandise, recovering inventory, cleaning the store, and performing additional duties assigned by the Store Manager to enhance store profitability and customer satisfaction.

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Operate cash register and scanner to itemize and total purchases, collect payments, make change, and bag merchandise.
• Follow company merchandise processes: unpack, stock, restock, rotate merchandise, and build displays.
• Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop floors, clean restrooms and receiving areas, and help set up sidewalk displays.
• Perform any additional tasks as directed by the Store Manager.

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow planogram and merchandise presentation guides.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Proficiency in operating a cash register and related equipment.
• Capability to stock merchandise efficiently.

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Handling merchandise and equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, dollies, and rolltainers.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
• Occasional climbing using a step ladder up to six feet.
• Fast‑paced environment with moderate noise levels.
• Exposure to outside weather conditions as needed.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
