Role Description The Armed Security Guard is a full-time, on-site role based in Manhattan, KS. The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by patrolling designated areas, monitoring access points, and observing for suspicious activity or safety hazards. Daily tasks include verifying credentials, controlling entry to facilities, responding to alarms or incidents, and documenting security-related events in detailed reports.
The role also involves working closely with law enforcement and internal stakeholders when necessary, following established protocols to de-escalate situations and protect people and property. The Armed Security Guard will be expected to adhere to all legal and company standards for weapons handling, use of force, and professional conduct while representing Valletta Industries.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in situational awareness, threat assessment, and incident response in security or law enforcement settings.
- Proficiency in safe firearms handling, weapons retention, and adherence to use-of-force guidelines and relevant regulations.
- Strong abilities in communication, report writing, and documentation of incidents and daily activities.
- Capability to follow security protocols, operate surveillance or access control systems, and perform routine patrols.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and use de-escalation techniques when dealing with conflicts.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diverse individuals and communities.
- Previous experience in security, military, or law enforcement is preferred; veteran status is welcomed but not required.
- Valid state-issued security license or ability to obtain one, and legal authorization to carry a firearm in Kansas.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods and meet physical fitness requirements related to the role.
