Position Summary
Supports the maintenance, repairs, and inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities- Troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds propane and diesel forklift engines.
- Diagnoses failures and maintains all systems and parts associated with forklifts.
- Uses hydraulic jacks to gain access to the underside of the units for maintenance and repairs.
- Conducts regular inspections of forklifts to identify any issues.
- Performs routine maintenance on forklifts such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and battery maintenance.
- Monitors and manages parts inventory levels and supplies needed for maintenance and repairs.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
- Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language to perform the tasks of the job, including conversing with co‑workers and members of the general public, understanding oral and written instructions, responding to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives, and accurately reviewing and completing various documents, reports, and records required of the position.
- 2 years of forklift mechanic experience.
- Proficiency in diagnostic software.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of tools, parts, and equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Regular use of hands and arms for handling tools, reaching overhead, and working in tight spaces.
- Ability to climb on, under, and around large trucks and equipment safely.
- Adequate vision (with or without correction) to read gauges, manuals, and perform detailed inspections.
- Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to detect equipment sounds, communicate, and follow safety signals.
$30.90 – $35.30 per hour, based on experience.
