Join GDIT as a Lead Journeyman Electrician supporting our Base Infrastructure Modernization program.
Responsibilities- Plan and execute electrical installations for new construction projects.
- Communicate with site and team leads to maximize production.
- Perform maintenance and repair of existing electrical systems.
- Support contract and in-house crews in multiple work locations.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and recommend solutions.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Install, maintain, and test electrical systems and components, including conduit, wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, ground systems and other electrical equipment.
- Conduct resistance testing and documentation of existing ground systems.
- Conduct power panel load testing and document results.
- Attend meetings with key stakeholders and provide updates focused on electrical job performance and needs.
- Act as a lead-mentor and supervise apprentice electricians, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Prepare and submit daily work reports detailing completions, materials and delays.
- Track used and needed material supporting site needs accurately.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Journeyman Electrician License required.
- Minimum of 4‑5+ years of experience as a Lead Journeyman Electrician in DoW/DoD background.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a leadership capacity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Secret clearance or the ability to obtain secret level clearance.
- US citizenship required.
- Work may be indoors or outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions.
- Requires 80% to 100% travel to various Air Force Bases for testing and installation support.
- May require lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Position requires travel CONUS and OCONUS.
- Ability to work alone and in a team environment (as a lead).
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
