Electrician

Job Description

To install, test, and maintain all electrical equipment and distribution systems.

• Install circuits, lighting equipment, and electrically operated machinery, as required.
• Perform repairs and periodic preventative maintenance checks and service on all electrical equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate electrical recording instruments and gauges, as required.
• Perform periodic load studies on distribution systems to ensure adequacy of system.
• Report abnormal conditions of equipment to Facilities Engineer or Foreman.

• Work in a safe and secure manner and comply with the safety rules and procedures.
• Write purchase requisitions for material, as required.
• Report time and material used.
• Operate jib cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment (except heavy cranes) for the moving of material, components, and equipment from location to location within the plant. Occasionally operate overhead cranes and tow motors in support of small moves to continue production within the department.
• Perform general laborer duties as required (i.e. grinding, loading and unloading of trucks and railcars, bricking furnace).
• Keep working area clean and perform housekeeping duties around the plant as required (i.e. pickup tools, roll‑up hoses and cables, sweep).

• Capable of reading and understanding wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs. up to waist.
• Requires 36 months minimum of job‑related work experience.

• Exposure to inside and outside weather conditions.
• Exposure to dirty and greasy work environment.
• Close visual and mental attention required.
• Occasional exposure to high voltage electricity.
• Exposure to normal shop noises of grinding, chipping, high pressure gas burners, and repair operations.
• Moderate physical exertion required.
