Electrician Leader

Summary

This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plains Area (PA), National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF), Facilities Operation and Management unit in Manhattan, Kansas. You will serve as the supervisor over a staff responsible for the maintenance, repair, renovations, and alterations on electrical systems and equipment supplying NBAF.

• Supervise staff responsible for the maintenance, repair, renovations, and alterations on electrical systems and equipment supplying NBAF.

• Meet the requirements under the Job Element Rating System X-118C, Qualifications Standard Handbook.
• Show through experience and training the best qualified level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties.
• Meet the screening element; applicants who do not meet the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT will not be considered.
• Provide a detailed questionnaire response and resume by the closing date 07/03/2026.

• Perform duties in utility spaces, on ladders and scaffolding, may operate a boom truck.
• Work may require close hand and eye coordination, active walking, prolonged standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and working in cramped or confined spaces.
• May need to lift equipment or material up to 75 lbs.
• Work usually inside heated building but may be required outside, on roofs, and in hazardous environments (mechanical systems, energized electrical systems, infectious agents, gas, fumes, grease).

• Clothing changes are provided and may be required to shower prior to reporting to duty station in accordance with entrance/exit safety protocols.
• Use of safety equipment and full-faced respirator may be required in biological control settings.
• Must demonstrate ability to shower out of biocontainment and follow decontamination instructions.
• Periodic fit‑for‑duty physicals and medical clearance required for entry into BSL‑3, 3 enhanced, and 3
  
  Ag environments.
• Baseline blood sample and immunization against transmissible diseases may be required.
• Compliance with biocontainment personal quarantine and restriction on contact with certain livestock may be required.
