Job Description:

The Painter, Automotive coats surfaces of motor vehicles such as automobiles, buses, and trucks with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other devices; removes old paint from vehicles using liquid paint remover and scraper; smooths surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool. The Painter, Automotive may prepare aluminum surfaces and ensure paint adheres to surfaces;

mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted; paint insignia, letters, or numerals on vehicle surfaces using stencils where applicable.

Responsibilities
  • Coat surfaces of motor vehicles with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin, or other materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Remove old paint from vehicles using liquid paint remover and scraper.
  • Prepare surfaces by smoothing with sandpaper and steel wool; roughen surfaces as needed to ensure paint adhesion.
  • Mask and protect areas not to be painted; apply insignia, letters, or numerals using stencils when required.
Qualifications
  • Must have formal documented training and a minimum of five years of documented Painter, Automotive experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and work in cramped areas.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions, including intense heat, heavy wind, rain, and snow or sleet.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to attain licenses on military vehicles, both tactical and non-tactical.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and attain a security clearance if required.
  • Must be able to pass random drug testing (as required) and demonstrate understanding of Safety and OSHA laws & regulations.
