Lead Carpenter

We’re looking for a Lead Carpenter who’s ready to take full control of the job site and lead projects with confidence. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing crews, coordinating trades, maintaining job site standards, and keeping projects running smoothly and efficiently. This role combines leadership and craftsmanship—you’ll be hands-on in the work while driving quality, productivity, and accountability across every phase of the project.

Compensation

$25–$30 per hour, based on experience

What You’ll Do

• Oversee day-to-day operations on assigned job sites
• Supervise internal crews, subcontractors, and vendors
• Coordinate schedules, materials, and site logistics
• Ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget
• Make on-site decisions in the absence of the Project Manager
• Maintain job site safety, security, and cleanliness

Carpentry & Craftsmanship

• Perform hands-on residential carpentry across all project phases
• Execute layouts and installations based on plans and specifications
• Uphold the highest quality standards

Client & Team Communication

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for homeowners
• Maintain a professional, positive customer experience
• Communicate updates, challenges, and solutions clearly
• Train and mentor junior team members

Planning & Coordination

• Review plans, specifications, and project documentation
• Collaborate with Project Managers on scheduling and execution
• Order and manage materials
• Coordinate deliveries and site setup

Budget & Performance Awareness

• Track labor, materials, and project costs
• Support material takeoffs and simple estimates
• Help control waste and inefficiencies
• Maintain daily logs with progress updates and photos
• Use project management software (e.g., Buildertrend)
• Keep job documentation organized and up to date

What You Bring

• 5+ years of residential construction experience
• Strong knowledge of carpentry and related trades
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans
• Experience leading crews and managing job sites
• Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
• Knowledge of residential building codes
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to perform physical work in all aspects of construction
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Personal set of professional-grade tools
