Berry Tractor & Equipment - is a full service heavy equipment dealership. Our equipment includes:
Komatsu®, and BOMAG, to name a few. Berry Tractor maintains a large rental fleet and provides repair and maintenance services on-site or in our well-equipped shop.

Berry Tractor & Equipment is looking for an experienced Field Service Diesel Technician to join our amazing team of technicians. If you are a confident, experienced heavy equipment mechanic, and have a clean driving history.

This position will be a resident tech in the Manhattan, KS area. They will report to the branch for store meeting, and trainings when notified.

Monday-Friday Day shift hours

Starting at $30+/hr depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical service to equipment.
  • Read job order, observe and listen to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed.
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to assigned area.
  • Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction
  • Produce quality work that evidences pride of workmanship.
  • Maintain your assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management.
  • Adhere to manufacturer’s policy and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications.
  • Any other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and or management of the company.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 year technical school graduate preferred.
  • 1-year fleet or dealership experience in a diesel shop is required; 2-5 years preferred.
  • Must be a team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer and service team
  • Must be self-motivated and conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Must have experience with high pressure common rail fuel systems, exhaust after-treatment, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulics.
  • Must have an inventory of hand tools to facilitate the assigned repairs.
  • Heavy equipment and or agricultural experience is a plus.
  • Clean driving history.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical.
