Our agency is led by Secretary Janet Stanek, who was appointed by Gov. Kelly in December 2021. KDHE is comprised of three divisions:
Public Health, Environment, and Health Care Finance (which includes the state’s Medicaid program, Kan Care). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof, allowing us to take a holistic approach to improving and protecting the health and well‑being of all Kansans.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The position (K0247604) serves as the point‑of‑contact and provides technical assistance to local organizations within the assigned region that are receiving KDHE grants, such as Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR). It conducts bimonthly progress meetings, site visits, and provides grantees with resources relevant to community initiatives. The role ensures grantee accountability, quality progress reporting, and alignment of approved work plans.

Responsibilities include assisting communities with identifying and leveraging resources to advance community health promotion work, building capacity, and encouraging the development of local coalitions for chronic disease prevention. The employee works with supervisor and state‑level chronic disease prevention staff to identify state resources available to assist local coalitions. Additional duties involve promotion of programs in the assigned region, serving as the lead on special topics as needed, and contributing to CDC and other progress reports summarizing outcomes from grantees.

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing and conducting training for grantees and partners in chronic disease prevention and assisting with the annual CDRR Annual Summit
  • Contributing to Community Health Promotion Section quality improvement work and providing training on tobacco prevention, worksite wellness, farmers market programs, etc.
  • Representing KDHE and the Bureau of Health Promotion at regional and state meetings as assigned
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with regional officials and key organizations to further develop health promotion programs
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School or GED
  • Licensing & Certification:
    Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Four years of experience planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and/or providing social or human services to the public or community. A bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Services, or a related field may be substituted.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Public Administration, or related field
    • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
