Position Summary
: JIA Worker is an on-call position that processes youth at the law enforcement center for various criminal behaviors or youths deemed a child in need of care. The role requires completing an intake process, gathering information from the youth, law enforcement officers and family members, and accurately entering the information into a database. The worker coordinates placement for the youth based on assessed needs and recommendations of the county attorney.
The JIA Worker must be available on a 12 hour shift Monday through Friday and at least one weekend per month, and must respond within 30 minutes of a phone call if required to report to the law enforcement office.
The worker operates independently under the general supervision of the Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections Deputy Director, following standards set by legislation, agency policies, procedures, and the Kansas Department of Corrections/Juvenile Services.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcess youth intake at the law enforcement center or scheduled appointments.
Gather and document information from youth, law enforcement officers, and family members.
Accurately enter data into the database.
Coordinate youth placement based on assessed needs and recommendations.
Communicate concise information regarding youth to county attorney and community partners.
Maintain respectful collaboration with all community partners and work as part of a team covering all shifts.
Qualifications- Adult felony conviction(s) disqualify applicants.
- Juvenile felony conviction(s) disqualify applicants.
- Confirmed or substantiated case of adult abuse or neglect disqualifies applicants.
- Confirmed or substantiated case of juvenile abuse or neglect disqualifies applicants.
Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections conducts background checks on all potential candidates.
