Shift: Weeknights and weekend days.
Starting wage: $15.00/hour.

Job SummaryResponsible for developing and teaching programs for the education of youth and/or adults in various Parks and Recreation programming, including beginner sports, dance classes, homeschool physical education, cheerleading, tumbling, etc.
Job Duties- Assist MPRD staff in creating lesson plans and/or curriculums.
- Work alone (or with an Instructor I) to facilitate programming.
- Notify, instruct, and correct participant behavior that is inconsistent with program rules in a fair, timely, and polite manner.
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with students, parents and coworkers.
- Perform facility opening/closing responsibilities as directed.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional working relationships individually and in a team environment.
- Perform minor first aid for injuries that may occur when supervising.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Provide excellent customer service and reflect the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Additional Qualifications
- Age 18 years or older.
- Knowledge and experience in applicable area of responsibility, e.g., sports, game rules/regulations, dance styles/techniques.
- Experience or desire to teach participants ages 3 to 18 years old.
- Work facilities include Anthony and Eisenhower Recreation Centers, Douglass Activity Center, Eisenhower Baseball Fields, and Manhattan High School East Campus.
- Work performed weeknights and weekend mornings.
- Noise and activity level will vary.
- Stands, walks, sits, uses hands, handles, feels, speaks, hears, climbs stairs, pushes, pulls, or lifts up to 50 pounds.
- This is a seasonal position and is not covered by KPERS.
