Traveling Operator; CDL A

Job Summary

Blick's is seeking a traveling operator with a CDL Class A Truck Driver license to operate and maintain specialized liquid fertilizer equipment at customer sites across the Midwest. The role includes approximately 20% driving and the rest operating, maintaining, and supporting production while ensuring safety. Daily per diem and lodging are provided during travel.

• Conduct DOT inspections and assist safe equipment transportation between job sites.
• Set up, operate, and pack up equipment at job sites, including preparing railcars for unloading and return transport.
• Document equipment inspections and perform field repairs before the next job.
• Maintain elog-books on vehicles and equipment, and utilize Microsoft Teams/Excel for documentation and reporting.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks, cars, and production equipment; replace broken or worn components.
• Maintain cleanliness in the shop, production areas, and company equipment.
• Uphold Process Safety Management (PSM) standards and company safety protocols.

• CDL Class A license required (must be obtained within first 90 days of employment).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in the fertilizer industry is a plus.
• Mechanical and maintenance proficiency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and industry‑specific software.
• Strong attention to safety, including use of PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, steel‑toe boots).
• Ability to work in confined spaces, manage heights, and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; part of a 4‑person mobile unit.
