Position Summary

Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency (ATA Bus) seeks a full‑time Bus Operator to provide safe and reliable public transportation services to the communities in Manhattan, Junction City, Ft. Riley, and parts of Pottawatomie County.

Our riders count on each Bus Operator to provide safe and reliable public transportation services in Manhattan, Junction City, Ft. Riley, and parts of Pottawatomie County.

• Operate vehicles safely and carefully, providing reliable transportation services to the public.
• Inspect vehicles before departure, checking gas, oil, and water levels.
• Utilize tablet software to track vehicle and rider information.
• Observe all traffic rules, laws, and regulations.
• Adhere to KDOT regulations for riders using wheelchairs during boarding or exiting.
• Communicate effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
• Work all shifts, including evenings and weekends, and overtime as needed.

The job requires working in all weather conditions, sitting in an enclosed vehicle for long periods, exposure to disease/infections, dealing with temperamental people, and working with contaminants such as gases and odors.
