The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.

ACS' Division of Child and Family Well-being (CFWB) works to ensure critical supports to families and children and is rooted in the belief that all New Yorkers should have health resources, and educational, cultural, and social opportunities that support their capacity to thrive. Through the Office of Child Safety and Injury Prevention (OCSIP), CFWB promotes strategies and interventions that address significant causes of fatal and severe unintentional injuries that primarily affect children under age six, who are more vulnerable to injury.

OCSIP's priority focus areas include infant safe sleep, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and child poisoning caused by exposure to medicines, household chemicals and cannabis-infused edibles. Additionally, as a member of the 2026, ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.
