Full-Time Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD)
Location:
Manhattan, NY
Schedule:
4:00PM - 12:00PM OR 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $27.00/hour
Position Details:
The Fire Life & Safety Director (FLSD) is responsible for overseeing all fire and life safety operations within a residential property in Manhattan. This role ensures full compliance with FDNY regulations, internal emergency procedures, and building safety protocols. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, composed under pressure, and capable of leading emergency response efforts while maintaining a professional presence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as the designated Fire Life & Safety Director, ensuring compliance with all FDNY codes and regulations
* Respond immediately to fire alarms, emergencies, and life safety incidents, coordinating response efforts as required
* Monitor and operate fire life safety systems, access control, CCTV, and alarm systems
* Conduct inspections of post areas, safety equipment, and security systems to ensure operational readiness
* Review daily memos, alerts, and security notifications to remain informed of building conditions
* Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and incident documentation
* Communicate clearly with the Operations Desk, property management, and leadership regarding incidents or deficiencies
* Maintain a high level of professionalism, alertness, and situational awareness at all times
Requirements:
* Valid NYS Fire Life & Safety Director Certification (F-89 or equivalent) - Required
* Valid NYS Security Guard License - Required
* Minimum 1 year of fire life safety or building security experience
* Strong emergency response, leadership, and communication skills
* Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
