Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Manistee, Michigan.

Overview

The maintenance technician supports operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment and systems in assigned facilities. The role involves assisting with maintenance and repair efforts and performing defined tasks independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment
• Maintain kitchen equipment such as meat grinders, cubers, meat saws, slicers, etc.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs
• Maintain lighting systems including bulbs and ballasts
• Complete fuel center UST inspections and dispenser maintenance
• Be on call for after-hours emergencies
• Comply with all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping and safety of work areas
• Recognize dangers and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them
• Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs
• Document work performance and materials procurement as directed
• Troubleshoot and maintain equipment such as scanners, printers, scales, networks, server drives, and UPS equipment
• Participate in on-call, after-hours calls as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid state driver's license
• Minimum of one (1) year of applicable experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical
• Ability to lift a minimum of 80 lbs., use ladders up to 30 ft, and possess mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Ability to pass background, drug/alcohol, and MVR screening

• Ability to comply with policies and procedures
• Self-motivated individual capable of working independently or in a team environment
