Automation Programmer Join the team at Eck Industries, a leader in aluminum casting and innovation for over 75 years. We're looking for an Automation Programmer to play a key role in driving automation excellence throughout our  this position, you will be responsible for all aspects of automation across the entire operation. You will assist in implementing automation projects that maximize manufacturing capabilities, improve efficiencies, and enhance cost effectiveness.

The role involves monitoring and optimizing robotic programs and PLC code, identifying inefficiencies, and making adjustments to ensure peak performance. Success in this position requires strong technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to quality. What You Will DoLead and support all aspects of automation throughout the facility to improve manufacturing capabilities, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Program, troubleshoot, and optimize FANUC robots and robotic systems.

Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block programming.

Utilize Rockwell Studio 5000 and the Factory Talk Suite to support and enhance automation systems.

Install firmware updates on automation equipment as needed.

Create, modify, back up, and restore robotic programs, PLC code, and automation system configurations.

Integrate automation hardware including PLCs, robotic controls, HMIs, safety systems, managed switches, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, and I/O Link devices.

Maintain organized and accurate files, backups, and documentation for all automation equipment and software.

Optimize equipment performance to ensure production, quality, and efficiency goals are consistently achieved.

Assist with the installation, startup, and commissioning of new automation equipment and systems.

Create bills of materials (BOMs), part drawings, electrical schematics, and supporting documentation for new and existing equipment.

Support inventory management of critical automation and spare parts.

Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and modify automation and robotic system components to maintain reliable operation.

Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and automated system documentation.

Upload and restore programs during equipment failures, CPU replacements, or recovery situations.

Document procedures, project activities, results, recommendations, and system improvements.

Communicate project status, troubleshooting efforts, and ongoing work with engineering, maintenance, operations, and other team members.

Maintain the highest standards of safety, housekeeping, productivity, and quality while working independently and as part of a team.

Collaborate cross-functionally to complete automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist in assembling, wiring, rebuilding, and installing machines, panels, enclosures, conduit, pumps, blowers, and other manufacturing equipment.

Maintain work areas in accordance with established 6S standards.

Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and implementing automation solutions that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Preferred Qualifications Strong experience programming and troubleshooting FANUC robots.

Advanced PLC programming knowledge and experience.

Experience with Rockwell Automation products, including Studio 5000 and Factory Talk.

Knowledge of Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA software is a plus.

Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship.

Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements Associates degree or equivalent in Electro/Mechanical Technology or Automation Engineering Technology from an accredited institution preferred.

Preferred candidate would have minimum of 8 years of industrial automation experience, specializing in programming and robotic integration.
