Technical Writer
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining technical manuals for lattice products. This role involves directing activities related to the development, accuracy, and timely delivery of technical manuals for use by our internal and external customers. The Technical Writer collaborates closely with engineering, quality, Aftermarket and IPD teams to gather technical information and transform it into clear, user-friendly documentation which follows the standards and regulations for technical manuals.
Responsibilities:Create comprehensive, professional technical manuals which can be easily understood by individuals with an average reading comprehension level equivalent to the 9th grade. This ensures accessibility and clarity for crane operators as well as for internal customers. The manuals must follow international standards; rules and regulations apply. Illustrations should be created when an illustration provides greater clarity for a description.
Observe and document IPCs for the end customer
Collaborate with engineering, Aftermarket and the IPD teams to ensure that everything important and new gets covered by the technical manuals. Strong and good collaboration between illustrator and technical writer is essential.
Gathering information at the plant (prototype development, production, test area)
Ordering translations on time, reviewing them, and preparing the print-ready file (PDF).
Handling inquiries from the Service, Marketing, and Engineering departments.
Maintenance of documentation for new and used cranes.
Proficiency with editor tools like Frame Maker
Proficiency with Isodraw or similar drawing tools would be advantageous
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook and Teams
Competencies:
Ability to collaborate in a team environment
Attention to detail in ensuring accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under supervision.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
Solid understanding of engineering drawings.
Ability to collaborate effectively with ENG, IPD teams and technical personnel, hourly production employees who are building our products and supervision.
Education and Experience:
Experience in the field of heavy machinery manufacturing
Experience in the field of digitalization, particularly with regard to AI
Must be able to spend short periods of time at a construction site or in a production facility—regardless of heat, cold, wet conditions, dry conditions, etc.—to gather information that must subsequently be documented in the manuals.
