Position Summary
The Engineering Co-op will be responsible for determining and developing production processes for manufacturing operations consistent with team objectives. The individual will interact with product engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions. Opportunities available for January 2027 to August 2027 and May 2027 to December 2027.
Responsibilities- Support day-to-day manufacturing engineering tasks and shop-floor problem solving.
- Assist with process documentation: work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flows.
- Collect and analyze production data; support SPC, yield analysis, and process capability studies.
- Participate in root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support Kaizen/continuous-improvement events and provide suggestions for waste reduction.
- Help develop and validate assembly and test fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and establishing machine setups and changeovers.
- Support BOM/Router updates in ERP/MRP systems and create visual process aids.
- Perform hands-on tasks as needed (measurement, inspection, simple fabrication, setup).
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to engineering and operations teams.
- Actively enrolled in a 4-year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.
- Coursework or experience in manufacturing processes, machining, metrology, statistics, or quality engineering.
- Experience with CAD (Solid Works, Creo, or similar).
- Familiarity with SPC, Minitab/JMP, or basic statistical tools.
- Knowledge of GD&T, PLC basics, automation/robotics, CNC machining, or 3D printing.
- Prior internship or hands-on manufacturing/shop experience.
- Data & statistics:
Excel, Minitab, JMP, Python (pandas). - ERP/MRP: SAP, Oracle, Net Suite (if applicable).
- Quality/Process: SPC, FMEA, CAPA, 8D.
